HINTON, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — The Hinton Community School Board has approved a settlement with a wrestler and his family, who alleged the school district was responsible for physical abuse and assaults.
According to the school board’s minutes for a September 15 meeting, members voted three to one to proceed with the settlement reached with the district’s insurance carrier and the family.

Officials said the release of a settlement will “expressly deny any wrongdoing on the part of the district, and the district’s administration, coaches, and staff.”
A trial was scheduled to begin on November 11. In all, three lawsuits were filed against the district and current and now-former athletic officials. Two other lawsuits are still pending.
