
More than two dozen non-profits have been awarded grants from the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County.
To celebrate their 20th anniversary this year, the Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant to one local non-profit organization. Delaware County Economic Development was the $20,000 grant recipient, intending to use those funds towards their entrepreneurship program and workforce retention. DCED Director Donna Boss says it’s meaningful – as she was there working right along with the Foundation in those early years when it first got its start.
The other grants from the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County ranged anywhere from $925 to $7,500 – with a total of more than $109,000 given overall this year. Among the local non-profits (pictured above) receiving the grants include:
- City of Colesburg – $5,000 for Learning at the Library All Year Long
- City of Dundee – $2,000 for Dundee Community Banners
- Dundee Fire Department – $5,000 for Snuff Out the Fields Tanker Updates
- Hopkinton Public Library – $5,000 for Hopkinton’s Interactive Kiosk Experience
- City of Masonville – $5,000 for Masonville Park Improvements
- City of Ryan – $3,000 for Wayfinding Signage
- Community Childcare of Manchester – $1,000 for Classroom Furnishings and Materials
- Delaware County Fair Society – $7,500 for Front Gate Beautification
- Delaware County Pay It Forward – $2,000 for Hope Programs
- Del. Co. Public Health – $7,500 for Lung Cancer Prevention through Radon Testing & Education
- Delaware County Sheriff’s Office – $7,500 for LPR Program
- Ed-Co School District – $3,078 for Story Walk on Nature Trail
- Greeley Keep Iowa Beautiful – $5,000 for Greeley Veterans Memorial
- Hopkinton Ambulance Service – $1,939.09 for EVAC-U-SPLINT
- ISU Extension – $1,000 for Babysitting Class Essentials
- Manchester Public Library – $3,500 for Accessible Materials for Library
- Maquoketa Valley Alliance – $3,000 for Creating a Sense of Place with Entrances
- Marilyn Wycoff Clothing Closet – $1,900 for the Marilyn Wycoff Hygiene Bank
- Operation Santa Claus – $2,000
- Petersburg Commercial Club – $4,794 for Welcome Entrance Signs
- Regional Medical Center – $3,000 for Youth Clinical Camps
- Ruth Suckow Memorial Library – $925 for Electronic and Audio Collection
- Ryan Little League Association – $2,500 for Lighting at the Ball Diamond
- Edgewood Public Library – $5,000 for A Year of Learning
- Wyatt’s Warriors Foundation – $1,500 for 988 Signs of Hope: Wyatt’s Warriors Signs Project
The grants were presented during a special 20th anniversary reception on Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Manchester.
