GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (Iowa Media Wire) — Three libraries in the Siouxland area received grants from a national discount store company to support literacy and education programs.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) awarded more than $100,000 in literacy grants to Iowa nonprofit organizations, schools, and libraries. DGLF also awarded more than $45,000 to libraries, nonprofit organizations, and schools in Nebraska.

Those grants were handed out to the following Siouxland libraries:

  • Sioux Center Public Library in Sioux Center, IA: $3,000
  • Merrill Public Library in Le Mars, IA: $1,200
  • Madison Public Library in Madison, NE: $750

The foundation said the funds can be used to buy new books, materials, software, or technology to enhance literacy programs.
