A teacher from Moline High School is one of five recipients of a national advisor award.
Trent Lamphier, a history teacher and History Club advisor at Moline, has been recognized as a National Advisor of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year. He is one of five educators nationwide to receive this honor. Lamphier is a National Board-Certified history teacher, social studies department chair for the high school and history fan. His love of history has made an impact as MHS History Club advisor and educator. He helped establish the MHS History Lab, which allows students to explore primary sources and engage in firsthand learning. He also played a vital role in creating the high school’s outdoor classroom, including maintaining a pond area for students and staff. He will be recognized with an engraved plaque and featured in the National History Club’s spring newsletter.
Lamphier’s passion for local history led to research and the installation of the Charles “Bazooka Charlie” Carpenter statue to honor the local WWII legend. The unveiling event will be in the MHS Outdoor Classroom on Wednesday, May 14th from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
The Moline High School History Club was recognized as a National History Club of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year and received this same honor in 2018. The club is one of five chapters in the United States to receive this recognition from the National History Club, Inc. (NHC).
