An Iowa City man who was wanted after causing damage to a residence has been arrested after he returned to the site.
On the afternoon of March 11th, a burglary was reported after the victim returned home to his Highway 1 residence after work. Police say 35-year-old Terry Pearson of Scott Park Drive forced entry into the residence and intentionally damaged the inside with what looked like a sharp-edged impact weapons. Several items were also displaced inside the residence.
Police were able to identify Pearson as the culprit due to evidence left at the scene. He was also reportedly identified by the victim as a possible suspect and noted that he was unwelcome at the residence.
On Saturday at approximately 7:50am, Pearson was reportedly found sitting at the back door of the victim’s residence, and he was taken into custody.
Pearson was charged with Trespass causing Damage, 4th degree Criminal Mischief, and Trespass. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
