A Coralville woman was arrested over the weekend after an argument between her and her daughter over laundry escalated.
According to the police report, the incident occurred at around 9pm at the Hughes Street residence of 35-year-old Christine Riziki. The daughter reported that Riziki tried to hit her several times with a PVC pipe following the argument. Riziki reportedly then hit her daughter with her hands but did not cause an injury or pain.
The daughter and other siblings told police that they believed Riziki was going to hit the girl had the siblings not held her back and told her to stop.
All three of the victim’s siblings and a friend who was on the phone provided similar narratives of the incident. The victim and her siblings reportedly had red watery eyes from crying due to Riziki’s actions and statements, including one where she allegedly wished the girl was dead.
Riziki was charged with Child Endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted. She was released on her recognizance Monday pending arraignment, and a no-contact order was issued by Judge Brandon Schrock.
