A University of Iowa student is accused of crashing his car into a tree, then telling bystanders he had taken mushrooms.
22-year-old Ajith Nathan of Hawk Ridge Drive is accused of crashing his 2012 Toyota Avalon into a tree outside of Aldi on Ruppert Road just after 6:45 Monday night. Bystanders say Nathan told them he had consumed mushrooms before driving.
Arriving officers say they found a pipe with the odor of marijuana inside the car. Nathan was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
