Grundy County schools enroll 2,248 students in 2024-25

Grundy County schools enrolled 2,248 students in the 2024-25 school year, 0.8% fewer than the previous year, according to the Iowa Department of Education.

Among those students, 50.3% identified as male and 49.7% as female.

White students comprised 92.4% of the student body, the largest share in Grundy County schools, followed by multiracial students at 3.2%, Hispanic students at 2.3%, Black students at 1.1%, Asian and Native American students at 0.4% and Hawaiian or Pacific Islander students at 0.2%.

Dike-New Hartford High School had the largest enrollment among Grundy County’s 11 schools in the 2024-25 school year, with 294 students.

Iowa’s certified K-12 enrollment declined slightly in the 2025-26 school year, according to the Iowa Department of Education. Total certified enrollment across public and accredited nonpublic schools fell 0.9% to 515,221 students. Public district and charter school enrollment declined 1.53% to 473,329 students, while accredited nonpublic school enrollment rose 6.4% to 41,892.

The department also reported that 41,044 students used Students First Education Savings Accounts at accredited nonpublic schools as of the Oct. 1 certified enrollment date.
