Legal fireworks sales began today for the 2026 summer season.
Fireworks may be sold as of June 1st if they are sold from a permanent structure. Tent sales are allowed as of June 13. All sales must end on July 8th.
Johnson County ordinances allow residents to discharge fireworks without a permit from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 3–5; as well as on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Discharging fireworks without a permit on any other dates is illegal in unincorporated areas of the county.
Incorporated cities have their own ordinances dealing with fireworks usage.
