A patient at University of Iowa Health Care on Hawkins Drive is accused of assaulting a nurse at the facility on Christmas night.
54-year-old Jason Curtis of Sherman Drive in Iowa City was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 4:15 Friday afternoon. UI Police say Curtis was being seen in the UIHC Emergency Deportment just 8:15 on the night of December 25th when he punched a nurse in the face during an argument. The nurse suffered bruising under his eye, and the incident was partially captured on video.
Curtis is charged with Assault Against Persons in Certain Occupations Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
