Memorial Service for Stephen King, 59, of Bedford, Iowa was held Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Cummings Family Funeral Home in Bedford, at 11:00 AM.  Visitation was held Saturday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until service time.  A private burial of ashes will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed towards the family to be established in Stephen’s honor.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.cummingsfamilyfuneral

Stephen David King, 59, died May 15, 2026 in Bedford. He was born to David Ross and Judy (Hoffman) King in Clarinda, Iowa on May 8, 1967.
Steve attended Bedford Community school and graduated from Bedford High School in 1985. He attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Mechanics in 1990.
Steve started his almost 33 year career at Precision Pulley Idler (PPI) in Lenox, Iowa, in 1993 where he held a variety of positions over the years, starting on the paint can line, working in maintenance and moving into night supervisor and then shipping lead. Steve was really proud of his work at PPI and considered his co-workers part of the family.
Steve met Maria Del Carmen Villamil Farraguta in 1996. Steve and Maria shared a love of music and dancing. The following year, to the joy of Maria’s daughters, they created a loving family on the foundation of their friendship. They were married in Bedford in 2005.
All through his life, Steve was a voracious reader and loved old western movies. He was the baker of the family and really enjoyed making desserts for family dinners, special occasions – especially birthdays. He was a skilled mechanic and could fix anything, loved building and making items for the house. He njoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandkids.
Steve is survived by his siblings: Michael D. (Dawn Fayerweather) King, Rochester, MN; Susannah R. (J.J. Robb) King, Bloomington, MN;, His five daughters: Susan Villamil, New Market; Rosalee (Randy) Payne, Lenox; Linda (Eric) St. John, Zuleika (Josh) Good and Virginia (Cole) Park, all of Bedford, and
ten grandchildren: Avery and Adrian (Susan), Maya and Randy (Rosalee), Stephen, Carolyn and Kacey (Linda), Josephine, Olivia and Stella (Zuleika).
He is also survived by his great- aunt Lolita (Gary) Spring, of New Market; cousins Ginny Couts, Omaha; and Jackie Murphy Smith, Bedford; Will (Melissa) Murphy, Ashville, North Carolina and many cousins, as well as many of his in-laws residing in Panama.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, his wife Maria King, his cousin Jay Murphy, his aunt Barbara Murphy, several great-aunts and great-uncles and cousins, and his in-laws residing in Panama.
