On May 23, 2026, at about 6:49 PM Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies, Linn
County Sheriff’s Rescue, Fairfax Fire Department, and Area Ambulance
responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Highway 151 (Williams Blvd.)
and Prairie View Drive in Fairfax. Responders arrived to find that a Chevrolet
Corvette had failed to stop at the stop sign at Prairie View Drive and collided
with a Nissan Rogue in traffic on Highway 151. The driver, and only occupant, of
the Corvette is Terry Johnson, 72 of Fairfax, and the driver, and only occupant,
of the Rogue, is Kaleb Peterman, 18 of Cedar Rapids. Both were wearing
seatbelts at the time of the collision. Peterman was uninjured. Johnson was
transported by Area Ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening
injuries. Johnson will be charged with a stop sign violation at the conclusion of
an operating while intoxicated investigation.
