A Riverside man faces a second OWI charge after a reported stop for speeding found him intoxicated.

The incident occurred Friday at around 7:!5pm. According to the arrest report, 47-year-old Jesse Helgerson of Walnut Avenue was pulled over near the intersection of 520th Street and Sand Road for allegedly going 59 miles per hour in a 45-miles per hour zone. Upon contact, Helgerson reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, admitted to drinking, and refused a PBT.

A subsequent Datamaster test showed his breath-alcohol level at .152 percent.

Having had a previous OWI in Johnson County from 2024, Helgerson was charged with OWI second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
