The Perry Jayettes will host Carroll on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the regional quarterfinals at Dewey Field.

The road to state soccer competition begins this week for both Perry High School soccer programs as the Bluejays and Jayettes host the Carroll Tigers in postseason action at Dewey Field.

The Perry Bluejays will host Carroll on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the regional semifinals, with a trip to the regional championship on the line. The Bluejays are two wins away from qualifying for the state tournament but must first defend home turf against a tough Carroll squad.

If Perry advances, the Bluejays will face the winner of the contest between Bishop Heelan and Greene County for the regional championship.

The Perry Jayettes will host Carroll on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the regional quarterfinals. A win over Carroll would send Perry to the regional semifinals against Dallas Center-Grimes at the DCG High School on Tuesday, June 2.

First-year Perry boys head coach Abraham Cardenas expressed excitement as his team enters postseason play.

“This is an exciting moment for our program and for me personally as I prepare for my first postseason as a head coach,” Cardenas said. “What I’m most interested in seeing is how our team responds together in this environment and how we play as a unit and stay disciplined as we implement the things we’ve worked on.”

With both teams opening postseason play at home, Perry fans will have back-to-back opportunities to support the Bluejays and Jayettes as they begin their pursuit of a state tournament berth.
