The Lenox girls and boys track teams had a successful week of action in the cooler temperatures at Mt. Ayr, and Van Meter. The Tigers saw several personal best performances individually, and in relay events. With two weeks left in the regular season the boys and girls are performing at peak levels.
Lenox senior Kolben Robinson had himself a huge week finishing in the top three in every event he was in, and helped set a new school record in the 4×200 Meter Relay with fellow seniors Laramie Stoaks and Dawson Evans, as well as junior Caden Kaufman. The boys 4×200 team now holds the 6th best time in class 1A. Robinson also set personal a best in the 200 Meter Dash- The 6th ranked Sprint Medley Relay ran a season best time from Robinson, Stoaks, Evans, and Kaufman- The boys Shuttle Hurdle Relay finished first in both meets, in addition to setting a new season best, and is ranked 3rd in class 1A from Robinson, sophomore Wylie Brokaw, Evans, and Kaufman. Senior Cade Cordell set an outdoor personal best in the 1600 Meter Mile Run at Mt. Ayr- Dawson Evan won the 110 Meter at Van Meter and set a personal best in the 100 Meter Dash at Mt. Ayr- The Distance Medley Relay team of Wylie Brokaw, sophomore Jackson Reed, sophomore Ashton Leonard, and sophomore Colton Haidsiak ran a season best time at Mt. Ayr- Jordan Castor set a personal best in the Discus- Carley Larson set a personal best in the 400 Meter Low Hurdles- Addison Junker placed in every running event she competed in and set a new personal record in both the open 800 Meter Run and 1500 Meter Run- Sophomore Reese Reed had a personal best time set in the 200 Meter Dash- Finally the girls Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of senior Delaney Funk, senior Danielle Robinson, freshman Natalie Hernandez, and senior Carley Larson medaled at both meets.
Tiger Golf
The Lenox Tiger golfers have won two of their last three tournaments, and are playing their best golf at the right time. Monday the 20th the Tigers protected their home course and won by 13 strokes over Martensdale- St. Mary’s and 28 strokes over Nodaway Valley. Freshman Adrian Schlapia was the top golfer on the day finishing -1. Junior Dayton Tull and senior Laramie Stoaks each were just three over par finishing tied for 3rd place, and sophomore Winston Adams placed tied for 5th at four over par.
Tuesday the 28th of April the Tigers finished 2nd overall by eleven strokes to Woodbine at the CAM tournament. Lenox beat CAM, East Union, Exira-EHK, and Logan-Magnolia. Top golfer for Lenox was sophomore Chase O’Riley who finished two over par which landed him tied for 3rd place. Laramie Stoaks was four over and tied for 4th place.
Friday May 1st the Tigers traveled to Leon to Compete in the Central Decatur Tournament. The Tigers took first place overall beating East Union by five strokes, Martensdale-St. Mary’s by 15 strokes, Wayne by 15 strokes, and Southeast Warren by a whopping 105 strokes. Adrian Schlapia was a medalist finishing 5th overall.
