An Iowa City woman was arrested over the weekend after an alleged altercation with her ex-husband.

Police responded to a Benton Drive address at 11am Sunday for a 911 hangup. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male victim who said that he was in an argument with 36-year-old Nagla Siddig of Bartelt Road about messages she found on his phone. During the argument, Siddig allegedly knocked the man’s TV to the ground and stomped on it, causing it to be inoperable. He also stated that she pushed him, causing his head to hit the wall.

Sidding had left by the time officers arrived, but agreed to meet with them. She allegedly admitted to destroying the TV but denied any physical altercation took place.

Siddig was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury and 5th degree criminal mischief. If convicted on the two counts, she could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.

A no-contact order was requested between the parties.
