Longtime Ames resident Paul Hudson will serve on the Mary Greeley Hospital Board of Trustees, following former member Mary Kitchell’s resignation.
Last month, Kitchell resigned from her role as a hospital board trustee member. She was reelected to the board in November.
As an Ames resident for 45 years, Kitchell has devoted extensive time to volunteering at Mary Greeley Medical Center. He received commendation for her valuable contributions to health care services, according to a news release from Mary Greeley Medical Center.
Hudson, a 60-year Ames resident, will fill Kitchell’s place for the remainder of her term, which ends Jan. 1, 2030.
Hudson, an Iowa State University alumnus, began his career in health care while in school, working in Mary Greeley’s first paramedic program. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he went back to Iowa State and Des Moines University to earn an MBA and a Master in Healthcare Administration, respectively.
As a former employee of Mary Greeley, Hudson has extensive experience in strategic planning, customer and patient care and quality improvement from his time at STATUS Healthcare Partners.
“My education and appreciation of the contribution of the hospital and its standing relative to other health systems I’ve examined leads me to believe that I am ideally suited to give back a portion of the benefits that I’ve been accorded as an employee, patient and member of the community,” Hudson told the Iowa Media Wire during the 2025 campaign.
The hospital board is composed of five other elected trustees.
