Storm water project and bids for cemetery paving topped the agenda when the Lenox City Council met on Monday, May 11.
Allison Kitzman, city administrator, said they will be working on a storm water project this summer. The city has budgeted about $300,000 for the project. The city employees will be doing all the work, saving the city over $200,000. This is a huge project for the city employees. She is currently waiting on prices for materials from two companies.
The project will start at the corner of Main and Ohio street, run down the alley behind the computer store and the alley behind the post office, down Illinois Street and connect to existing storm sewer.
Areas will be dug up for the project and there will be no boring. More intakes and manholes will be added.
The line that runs from Main Street under the post office is plugged. They tried jetting it but it didn’t help. That is causing flooding in the streets. In some areas, they will tear out the concrete and replace it with concrete; other areas they may dig in the right-of-way and will reseed it.
