A Cedar Rapids man stopped in Iowa City for driving while revoked now faces an OWI charge.

Just after 11:30pm Sunday, 37-year-old Jacob Grabe of A Avenue NW was observed driving southbound on Dubuque Street near Iowa Avenue. A check of his driving status showed him as revoked.

Police say Grabe parked on Iowa Avenue and was reportedly urinating between the door and the driver’s seat when they made contact with him. He allegedly had red watery eyes, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and was wearing a bar wristband. An open bottle of Don Julio tequila was reportedly found on the passenger floorboard.

Grabe allegedly refused field and chemical testing. A check of his driving record showed a previous OWI from Linn County in 2024. He was charged with OWI second offense and Driving While Revoked. If convicted on both counts, Grabe could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
