The Iowa State Patrol is investigating at fatal crash accident that occurred Monday evening in Benton County.
The incident reportedly occurred just before 6:20pm near the intersection of US 30 and 32nd Avenue in Benton. According to the crash report, a Chevy Silverado driven by 58-year-old Ricardo Garcia-Garcia of Kansas City Kansas and a Buick Regal being driven by 39-year-old Brunis Alcy of Cedar Rapids were both driving eastbound in the left lane of US 30. Garcia-Garcia rear ended the Regal, sending it into the south ditch. Garcia-Garcia then lost control of his vehicle, went through the median and rolled several times. He died as a result of the accident.
Alcy was not injured.
The State Patrol was assisted by the Benton County and Linn County Sheriff Offices, and the Atkins Fire Department. The Accident remains under investigation.
