A De Soto man was arrested Tuesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with an incident last month in which he allegedly pulled a knife on another De Soto man during an argument at a convenience store.

Ryland Raymond Porter Jr., 53, of 1000 Marshall St., De Soto, was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.

The incident began Nov. 19 about 6:30 a.m. at a convenience store in the 1100 block of Greene Street in De Soto, where Porter allegedly brandished a knife during an argument with a De Soto man, according to court records.

Store security video and witness accounts show Porter allegedly “take out, display” the weapon “and walk toward the victim in a threatening manner during the argument,” according to court records.

and witnesses stated they saw the suspect

A De Soto Police Department Officer made contact with the victim, who told the officer that Porter also allegedly “accelerated toward the victim” with his vehicle  “but did not strike him,” according to court records.

A warrant for Porter’s arrest was ordered Nov. 24 in Dallas County District Court and served Nov. 25. Porter was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 9 in Dallas County District Court.
