The Simpson College Board of Trustees voted to name Susan D. Stuebner as the 26th president of Simpson, promoting her from interim president to president of the college.

The decision was made following a performance review process conducted by Academic Search. Faculty, staff and student leaders provided overwhelmingly positive feedback in interviews, and the review concluded Stuebner’s leadership was fit for the presidency.

Board of Trustees Chair Terry Handley announced the board’s decision to the campus community via email.

“Sue’s authenticity and transparency in engaging with the campus community have already gone a long way in building early trust and confidence,” Handley said. “She is a collaborative leader who has the depth of expertise and poise to lead us through the many challenges and opportunities ahead of us.”

According to the email, the board is enthusiastic about Stuebner’s leadership, and they are eager to work with her in charting a promising future for Simpson.

Stuebner is thrilled to officially be part of the Simpson team, and she is delighted to be named Simpson’s 26th president.

“Over the past four months, I immediately saw how dedicated our faculty and staff are in supporting student success,” Stuebner said. “I am impressed with how engaged our students are in the classroom and how much leadership and talent they contribute to our campus community.”

Student Body Vice President Caden Kingery is also ecstatic about Stuebner’s presidency announcement. Kingery has worked with Stuebner throughout the semester and was consulted as a student leader during the review process.

“Working with her throughout the semester has eased a lot of minds after coming out of such a tumultuous summer and semester,” Kingery said. “Knowing that we have a good, communicative leader and someone who truly cares for this campus is a good sign going forward.”

According to Kingery, Stuebner assured student leaders she wants to continue to build a strong line of communication between students and the administration to further meet the needs of students.

Stuebner appreciates the individuals in the campus community who she has learned from and worked with in the past few months. She recognizes how special the Simpson community is.

“Simpson College is a place where people matter and where our community is committed to doing our best,” Stuebner said.

Stuebner looks forward to continuing her work to help Simpson be the best college it can be.
