Waukee man allegedly strikes child with coat hanger

A Waukee man was arrested Monday after allegedly striking a minor with a coat hanger and dousing him with milk.

Abdirizaq Omar Abdi, 51, of 775 S.E. Jonas Circle, Waukee, was charged with child endangerment-bodily injury.

The incident began about 5 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 700 block of Jonas Circle, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the minor victim, who told officers that Abdi allegedly “threw a glass of milk on him” and “hit him with a hanger,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “visible raised marks from the hanger and red marks on his other arm” as well as remains of the milk, according to court records.

Abdi was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 30 in Dallas County District Court.
