SALIX, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — One Siouxland restaurant has made the top five finalists for a dish they’re well known for.
Every year, the Iowa Pork Producers Association tries to find the best pork tenderloin in the state. This year, Walker’s in Salix, Iowa, was one of the top contenders being nominated for the best pork tenderloin sandwich.
Walker’s is among the top five in the state. While they may not have received the number one prize, the owner of Walker’s said that their business has risen since the announcement as a top finalist.
“Getting nominated was great,” said Owner Michelle Christianson. “We’ve had people from all over come down and see us and try it out, so, yes, we are just so happy and thankful for all of the people from all over and our local people, too. They are always here.”
This year’s winner of the tenderloin competition is Hometown Heroes in Grinnell. They received a plaque, an outdoor banner, and $500.
