“This meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn how the city’s budget is developed,
where funds are allocated, and how they can participate in the process,” Barnes said.
“Transparency and community engagement are essential to building a budget that reflects
our shared priorities.”

The meeting will be held in compliance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act, ensuring public access and transparency. All residents and interested members of the public are encouraged to attend, the release says.

The meeting will take place at 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Rock Island City Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 1528 Third Ave. The meeting will feature:

  • An introduction by Barnes
  • A review of the Budget in Brief document by the Finance Department staff
  • A presentation of the remaining budget schedule by Finance Department staff
  • An open forum for public comments and questions.
