An Osceola man was arrested in Waukee early Friday after he was allegedly found in possession of crack cocaine and a loaded pistol.
Killiam Ezekiel Hicks, 18, of 221 N. Park St., Osceola, was charged with person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, interference with official acts-firearm, first-offense possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The incident began about 1:45 a.m. Friday at a park in the 500 block of N.E. Westgate Drive in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department encountered a suspicious vehicle occupied by two males and two females.
In the course of the interaction, “both males took off running from officers,” according to court records. One of the officers caught and detained Hicks.
A search of Hicks disclosed a Sig Sauer P250 9 mm handgun in his waistband with “a round in the chamber,” according to court records.
The search also disclosed “a small, plastic bundle that contained a white, rock-like substance” believed to be crack cocaine and a scale, according to court records.
Hicks is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $7,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 3 in Dallas County District Court.
