The Manchester Rotary Club has installed a new clock at the Manchester Whitewater Park to celebrate the Rotary’s 100th anniversary.

Rotary Club President Nicholas LaRosa says the process started last year when the club wanted to do some type of project to help celebrate the club’s milestone. To help raise money to purchase the clock, they hosted a 5K run called the Turkey Trot last November and held another fundraiser at Manchester River Days this past June, with many local companies also donating towards the cause.

Rotary worked with the City to find a spot for the Rotary clock and agreed that it would look nice by the City emblems, which are located near the Whitewater Park shelter. The club was able to purchase a two-faced clock so the time would be visible from the street and the trail along the river.

LaRosa says the Rotary still needs to cover the cost of installing the clock. They’ve asked local businesses to donate to the Rotary Club and, in exchange, their company logo would be laser-engraved into a granite tile and placed around the base of the clock.

Right now, the Rotary is in the process of getting the company logos laser-engraved into the granite tiles. Once those are done, then a concrete circle will be poured around the base of the clock and the tiles will be placed in the concrete. They’re on schedule for completing the project this year, but it’s weather dependent.

LaRosa says they’re happy that the clock was able to be put up this year to help the Manchester Rotary Club celebrate their 100th anniversary. He says the clock is also lit when it’s dark, so it’s perfect for this time of year as the days get shorter.
