A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy is contesting a drunk driving charge against him.
According to arrest records, a different deputy observed a 2022 Volkswagen Taos commit a stop sign violation at the intersection of Forevergreen Road and Jasper Avenue between Tiffin and Interstate 380 just before 11:00 on the night of August 23rd. The driver, 46-year-old Cody O’Hare, reportedly showed signs of intoxication. O’Hare is also a sheriff’s deputy, so the Iowa State Patrol was called in to continue the investigation. O’Hare reportedly refused field sobriety testing, and his breath alcohol level was measured at .140%.
The ten-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, who lives in Tiffin, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and placed on administrative leave.
On Monday, O’Hare entered a not guilty plea. On Tuesday, Judge Jason Burns set a case management conference for December 15th.
