Jean “Jennie” Elizabeth (Smith) Cresta, 86, of Perry passed away peacefully and suddenly on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, at the Eden Acres campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.
Jennie was born in Portsmouth, N.H., on June 8, 1939. She was the eldest of eight children.
She loved crocheting, painting, drawing, cooking and doodling. Jennie also had a special gift for growing plants — everything she touched seemed to flourish.
Her outgoing personality and warm spirit always brought a smile to those around her, no matter the circumstances.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Anne Smith; and sisters, Carmella and Elizabeth Ann.
Jennie is survived by her children, Kevin (Smith) Davidson and his wife, Paula; Katherine Pratt and her husband, Don;, Virginia Hellyer and her husband, Brian; and Lance Smith. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Jennie will be deeply missed by all who loved her and by everyone who had the opportunity to know her. It’s not a good-bye. It’s a see-you-later.
