Hopkinton transformed into “Hauntkinton” on Saturday night.
All along the downtown street on a rainy and blustery night, you could find the mystical and mysterious.
Hauntkinton was a new event hosted by the Hopkinton Public Library. From aura readings to fortune tellers, participants were encouraged to walk the street and step into dark businesses where they could take part in experiences they’ve likely never had before.
Hopkinton resident Sarah Helle loved seeing everyone gather in their small town for this unique event leading up to Halloween.

You could participate in a drum journey to connect with an ancestor, guided by Hilary Naab of Monticello.
Mediums were inviting you in to receive a message from a loved one who has passed. And then there were the paranormal investigators diving deep into the alleged spirits at two Hopkinton businesses.
Scott Johnston is the founder of Cedar Rapids Paranormal Investigations. On Saturday night, he allowed participants to help him uncover paranormal findings in the shadows of the Hopkinton Public Library. It’s a place he’s investigated before – he had previously been invited to speak at the library by Hopkinton Library Director Kim Albright when it turned into an investigation.
Another paranormal investigator was across the street at Salow’s Cafe. Richard Van Natta with Ravens Wing Paranormal of Galena was conducting an Estes Method in an attempt to communicate with any spirits in the historic building.
At both Salow’s Cafe and the Hopkinton Public Library, paranormal investigators say they found evidence of interaction with spirits. Rich says they’ve come across them at Hopkinton’s historic Lenox College campus in prior investigations too.
Hauntkinton plans to return next year.
