SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) —In the spirit of Halloween, Habitat for Humanity held a festive, family-friendly event called “Build and Treat.”

The local non-profit organization aimed to provide a fun experience for children while furthering its mission to support Siouxland families. Kids were able to dress up and go car to car to receive candy. Attendees also had the chance to participate in various hands-on activities, such as arts and crafts.

“We want Habitat to be a friend of mine,” said Shayla Becker with Habitat for Humanity. “So, when you’re coming out and you’re looking at the restore, or you’re thinking about the trunk or treats that go on in our community, they always think about those businesses going forward. So, we wanted to try and get engaged and to have people think about Habitat long-term.”

During the event, families had the opportunity to shop inside their retail store. All the funds raised on Friday will be returned to Habitat for Humanity to support the construction of additional homes for residents of Siouxland.
