The former village clerk of Alexis faces forgery and theft charges, according to Warren County Court documents.
Jenny McKeown faces two felony charges of theft of government property and forgery, say court records, which show McKeown “knowingly obtained unauthorized control over certain government property of the Village of Alexis, IL, having U. S. currency with a value exceeding $10,000 but not exceeding $100,000, intending to deprive the owner permanently of the use of the property.”
Documents show that on or about May 2022 through January 2025 in Warren County, McKeown “made or altered documents apparently capable of defrauding another.”
Officials say McKeown surrendered herself to law enforcement, then was released pending further court proceedings. She is scheduled for a first appearance in Warren County Court on Oct. 30.
