A Menlo man was arrested Saturday afternoon after he allegedly threatened to kill a law enforcement officer while drunk.
Gregory Michael Joint, 51, of 514 Fourth St., Menlo, was charged with two counts of first-degree harassment and first-offense public intoxication.
The incident began about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Second Street in Redfield, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs made contact with Joint in the parking lot of a convenience store.
Joint presented with “the overpowering odor of consumed alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath,” according to court records. He noted that “drinking in America is not illegal.”
When the deputy tried to question Joint, the Menlo man allegedly said they should “take this conversation to a gravel road, turn off my body camera, and ‘settle this like men,’” according to court records.
Joint then allegedly said, “I’ll kill you. I’ll kill you, walk away and laugh,” according to court records.
Joint then asked another deputy why he was being “pertained,” according to court records.
Joint was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,300 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court..
Joint was convicted of second-offense pubic intoxication in 2000 in Guthrie County District Court. He was convicted two counts of assault in 2011 in Guthrie County District Court.
