The City of Moline is already thinking about the holiday season, and how community members can help bring some Christmas magic, early. Toys for Tots had a drive-thru toy drive today.
The goal was to fill a City of Moline dump truck with new toys and give back to children within the QCA.
Volunteers were a part of the Moline Care Crew, and woke up to collect toys at six o’clock this morning.
“Absolutely no child should ever have to not have that experience. So if there are ways that we can help make sure that they get to enjoy the magic of the season, then we want to make sure we do that,” says Leah Madsen, Director of Human Resources for the City of Moline.
She alongside other city employees volunteered their time on Friday.
“A lot of times, the older children sometimes don’t receive toys, so it’s good to also think about the older kids who might not have anything,” says Stephanie Murphy, City Clerk.
New and unused toys were accepted through 3:00 pm Friday afternoon, and volunteers say there will be more drives in the future.
