The Bock Family Foundation Inc., established in 2002 by the estates of Larry Bock and Barbara Bock, distributed $125,395 to 29 grant recipients Monday afternoon at a presentation ceremony held at the Perry Public Library.

Since its founding in 2002, the Bock Family Foundation Inc. has awarded grants totaling more than $2.94 million, including grants awarded in this fall’s grant cycle. Foundation  President Jon Peters and Executive Director Scott Finneseth distributed the awards to the spring 2025 recipients.

Along with Peters, the board of directors includes Vice President Brent Halling, Secretary Joyce Van Kirk and directors John C. Powell, Rusty Burgett, Jon Williams and Mark Powell.

Fall 2025 recipients were:

  • Dallas County Conservation Board: $10,000.00 toward Restore Adel Lighted Bridge on RRVT
  • Perry Volunteer Fire Department: $7,500.00 toward fittings for hydrants and nozzles for new fire truck
  • City of Perry Parks & Recreation Department: $3,000.00 toward equipment for Child Watch Room
  • Dallas County Health Department: $1,625.00 toward education for PACES students
  • Perry Public School District: $300.00 toward the purchase of a pitch com device for the high school varsity baseball program
  • PACES: $10,000.00 toward the Before and After School Program
  • New Opportunities, Inc: $3,000.00 toward toys for the Perry Project
  • Pegasus Inc.: $2,500.00 toward the assistance in payment for the programming coordinator and editor
  • Perry Police Association: $10,000.00 toward a Public Safety Response Kit for the drone program
  • Everybody Wins! Iowa: $7,500.00 toward the Power Read Program at Perry Elementary
  • Perry Area Emergency Food Council: $6,000.00 toward meat
  • Crossroads Church: $1,750.00 toward Compassionate Care Ministry
  • Dallas County Hospital: $3,000.00 toward the Blessing Box
  • Dallas County Hospital Family Medicine: $2,500.00 toward protective glass layers to additional patient facing areas of the hospital
  • Dallas County Hospital Foundation: $7,000.00 toward modernizing the Outpatient Heart and Lung Care Center at the hospital
  • Perry Area Child Development Center: $7,500.00 toward scholarships
  • Raccoon River Pet Rescue: $5,000.00 toward spay/neuter/vetting services
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States: $1,500.00 toward the painting of a mural of the flag raising at Iwo Jima
  • Perry Girls Softball Association: $2,300.00 toward a new pitching machine and balls
  • Perry Little League: $8,000.00 toward replacing batting nets
  • Perry Baseball Club, Inc: $1,000.00 toward the indoor batting facility including backstops, radar, catchers gear, j bands, and ball buckets
  • Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa: $2,500.00 toward the Perry-Spring Valley Township Girl Scouts
  • Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy: $7,500.00 toward replacing furnishings for the common living, treatment, and client spaces
  • Woodward Public Library: $1,920.00 toward Hotspots
  • Woodward Community Food Pantry: $3,000.00 toward the purchase of a chest freezer and food supplies
  • Minburn Area Firefighters Association: $2,000.00 toward helmets and boots
  • Osborne American Legion Post 99: $2,500.00 toward the repair of masonry wall and renovate a bathroom
  • DeSoto Volunteer Fire and EMS: $3,000.00 toward tables and chairs for the training room
  • Raccoon River Preschool, Adel: $2,000.00 toward the Naturescape Playground Project

The Bock Family Foundation Inc. benefits organizations operated for religious, charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes. Projects proposed for funding must be located in Dallas County, and applicants must be a nonprofit organization or a unit of state or local government.

The Bock Family Foundation awards grants in the spring and fall.  Application deadlines are March 1 and Sept. 1, respectively.
