An Adel man was arrested Oct. 13 after he allegedly assaulted an Adel woman in a vehicle.
Austin Lee Arteman, 26, of 2203 N. 15th St., Adel, was charged with assault and first-offense alcohol consumption in public.
The incident began about 5:45 p.m. Oct. 13 in the 400 block of Nile Kinnickh Drive S., where officers of the Adel Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Arteman allegedly “pulled on the steering wheel of the vehicle she was operating” while traveling westbound in the 25000 block of U.S. Highway 6, according to court records.
The victim told the officers that Arteman’s actions “put the victim in fear of her life by being struck by another car in traffic,” according to court records.
The victim also told the officers that Arteman allegedly “threatened to strike her by raising his fist towards her as she corrected” the vehicle’s course in order “to prevent a collision,” according to court records.
The officers made contact with Arteman, who presented with an “odor of an alcoholic beverage,” according to court records.
Arteman is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,300 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference Nov. 8 in Dallas County District Court.
Arteman was convicted of public intoxication in 2020, 2023 and twice in 2025.
