SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Five, local nonprofits will receive donations from a chain store as part of its rewards program.
Every 90 days, Target hosts “Target Circle Community Giving.” The program awards grants to all five selected nonprofits, with the total amount granted based on the number of votes each nonprofit receives.
For the upcoming contest, which runs from October 1 to December 31, five Siouxland nonprofits are in the running. Eastern Iowa Honor Flight, Food Bank of Siouxland, Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois, TeamMates Mentoring Program, and YPN will receive grants.

Eastern Iowa Honor Flight
The Eastern Iowa (EI) Honor Flight relies strictly on donations and is run by volunteers. The EI Honor Flight hosts flights for veterans to Washington, D.C., so they can see the historical sites, memorials, and monuments dedicated to their service. According to the EI Honor Flight website, they serve veterans from Linn, Jones, Benton, Tama, Iowa, Johnson, Marshall, Jasper, Poweshiek, and Washington counties. Though they will serve veterans from surrounding areas, should they be able to fly out of the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids.
Food Bank of Siouxland
The Food Bank of Siouxland is one of the food suppliers for nonprofits around Siouxland, mainly including food pantries and soup kitchens. Through the Food Bank, these nonprofits can support those who need that little bit of extra support. According to the Food Bank of Siouxland’s website, it serves Woodbury, Ida, Monona, Crawford, Plymouth, Cherokee, Sioux, and Lyon counties in Iowa. It also serves Dakota, Thurston, and Burt counties in Nebraska. This Sioux City-based business is a distribution partner of Feeding America.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois
The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is the section of the national organization Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts is a way for young girls to explore, learn, and build themselves up. Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is the overarching nonprofit that hosts the Girl Scouts events and troops for the Siouxland area. Girl Scouts are typically made up of adult volunteers and troop members. Each troop works together to earn badges that go onto each girl’s respective sash, vest, or tunic.
TeamMates Mentoring Program
TeamMates Mentoring began in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1991 and has since evolved to reach six states. According to the TeamMates website, more than 50,000 people have had their lives impacted by the program, and they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. During the 2023-24 academic year, $6.7 million was awarded to students who were part of the TeamMates Mentoring Program. In the 2023-24 academic year, TeamMates provided career coaching, mentoring, college access coaching, scholarships, and more to nearly 9,700 youth.
YPN
YPN, or Young Parents Network, was founded because local community members saw the lack of support for young families in Cedar Rapids. YPN offers support for parents of young children who may need it. It offers baby care items, formula, diapers, gently used clothing, toys, games, books, donations, counseling, and so much more. YPN is mainly known for its Diaper Bank, with more than 2 million diapers donated since 2016. YPN offers its services to residents of Linn, Iowa, Benton, and Jones counties in Iowa.

– Go to the Target website, sign in, click your name, click ‘Target Circle’, there you should find the Community Support Votes section, and you should be able to vote from there
