SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — The Crofton Community School District wasn’t the only district voting on Tuesday; three other Siouxland districts voted as well.
Voters in the Galva Holstein Community School District approved the continued use of money from the state of Iowa’s Secure an Advanced Vision for Education Fund. The funding is used for school infrastructure and provides property tax relief. The request passed with 93% support.
The Sheldon Community School District will continue its physical plant and equipment levy for another 10 years. More than 73% voted in favor on Tuesday. The district can continue collecting the same local levy already put in place.
And people living in the Sibley-Ocheyedan School District voted no on that same levy for facilities and equipment, with 78% voting against the measure. The levy would have not exceed $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed valuation to taxable property.
All three measures needed 50% plus one vote to pass.
