Rock Island Arsenal will hold 9/11 remembrance ceremony

The Rock Island Arsenal 24th anniversary 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be 8:46 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, on the Rock Island Arsenal across from Memorial Field, according to a news release.

The arsenal will host the ceremony at the 9-11 Memorial. Maj. Gen. Mark McCormack, deputy commanding general – operations, First U.S. Army, will serve as keynote speaker.

These events will honor the lives lost 24 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001, and the generations of service members and Department of Defense civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the nation. “Their courage and unwavering commitment reflect the highest ideals of American service,” the release says.

This event is open to the public.
