Third grade students in Davenport learned about agriculture today at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.

Topics included dairy, meat, corn, soybeans and farm machinery. Students also learned about the history of farming and the importance of agriculture in everyday life.

Mark Hotvedt, Senior Regional Manager at Iowa Farm Bureau, said farming may look different in the near future, and exposing kids to different aspects of the profession now is important.

The event continues through September 11 for third graders from other Davenport schools.
