QCA residents should check their freezers to see if they have a local pizza that has been recalled.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship says it received a complaint about pizzas made by B&K Enterprises, doing business as Vitale’s in Clinton. An investigation revealed that an unknown quantity of various meat-topped pizzas were produced without federal or state inspections. The pizzas were produced on various dates between June 1 – Sept. 10 and have labels with “Vitales” on a red, green and white background.
The pizzas were sold to restaurants and commercial establishments, including in Davenport, DeWitt, Fulton, Bettendorf, Chadwick, Ill. and Winona, Minn. No reports of illness have been reported in connection with the pizzas. Authorities are concerned that some products may still be in restaurants’ or consumers’ refrigerators or freezers.
Anyone who has purchased one of these pizzas should not eat them and should discard them. Call Vitale’s at 563-242-6140 or 563-242-6141 with questions.
