DENISON, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — The Iowa Attorney General’s Office (AG) has determined a deadly, officer-involved shooting was justified.

According to the AG’s Office, a Denison Police officer shot and killed Feglys Antonio Campos Arriba on August 15, 2025. They reported that night, they were alerted to a person sleeping in Washington Park after park hours, and when officials confronted the person (identified as Campos Arriba), they told him he needed to leave or he would be arrested for trespassing.

Authorities claimed Campos Arriba chose to be arrested but tried to advance on the arresting officer as they were placing the cuffs on him. The officer, identified as Sergeant Alan Romero, deployed his stun gun, but Campos Arriba continued to “chase the officer.”
