A man from Davenport who was accused of assaulting and robbing a woman in November 2024 has entered a plea in the case.
Antwone Morgan Sr., now 39, submitted a plea agreement in Scott County Court on August 20, where he pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree robbery, assault with intent to inflict serious injury, tampering with a witness, OWI third offense and child endangerment. A judge sentenced him to:
- A term not to exceed 10 years, with a mandatory 50% minimum for the robbery charge
- A term not to exceed two years for the assault charge
- A term not to exceed 15 years, with a mandatory minimum term of three years, for the tampering with a witness charge
- A term not to exceed five years on the OWI – third charge
- A term not to exceed two years on the endangerment charge
The sentences will run concurrently, or at the same time. Morgan was given credit for time served. He was ordered to pay a total of $6,205 in fines, but $3,080 of that amount was suspended. He will not have to pay the fines while he is in prison, but restitution will be part of any probation arrangements.
On November 18, 2024, Davenport Police responded to the 400 block of W. 12th Street where Morgan and the victim had been arguing. Morgan struck the victim in the face and when the victim said she was calling police, he pulled out a knife and threatened to kill her before leaving in her vehicle.
