SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — With just one day away from one of Iowa’s most prominent art festivals, artists and vendors are making final preparations to kick off the 31st ArtSplash.
With over 70 artists from the Siouxland area and others from out of state, the festival will be able to gather in downtown Sioux City. Folks can check out dozens of vendors, all kinds of food, and listen to some live music. This year’s festival introduces a couple of changes, one of which is that alcohol will be available for sale on September 12. The director of the Sioux City Art Center says the event is a great way to showcase a variety of crafts to other artists.

“One of the things that’s just wonderful about the art world, the art community, is that everyone has mutual support,” said Todd Behrens with the Sioux City Art Center. “So, for the artist who brings their work here, that’s 75 different people to talk to, learn about their process, their ideas.”
One of the art vendors, who focuses on equestrian art, said this is her second time attending this festival, and that the people here are what make her come back.
“You get some input about what you’re doing and get some ideas about what other people are doing,” said Susan Hartenhoff, an art vendor for ArtSplash It’s the creativity and the camaraderie that you get to do.”
Art Splash is set to kick off on Saturday, September 13, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, September 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
