SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Monday morning, “Ride for Miracles” kicked off their 10th annual ride to benefit the UnityPoint Health Children’s Miracle.
The riders announced this year, there is an exciting twist. The seven riders don’t know any of the route’s details, except that they’re heading to Nova Scotia.
The group learned on Monday that their first stop is Duluth, Minnesota. Each morning, one of the kids they ride for will give them their route as well as a fun challenge.
“This is the first year we’re doing it with this twist, so like I said somebody knows the route but not any of us, so the kids will tell is where we’re going,” said Matt Thompson, a Miracle Rider. “The other neat thing is the kids are going to try to give us some challenges along the way, like I’d like a picture with a moose or something like that.”

“We also have kids that we’re riding for so NICU graduates, CMN children, things like that. So we asked them to give us an idea of what their favorite animal is, and we’ve got a stuffed animal that we’re going to take with us. So it’ll ride along with us, we’ll take pictures with it, and then we’ll be able to tell the stories of those kids while we’re on the road,” said Thompson.
Each morning on Good Day Siouxland the kids will announce where the riders are heading and the riders’ reaction to the route. Be sure to tune in each morning at 6 a.m. until the ride is complete on August 15.
