Kyle Gripp, alderman at-large, on Tuesday announced his campaign for re-election to the Davenport City Council.
“With a challenging economic landscape, we need elected officials who are pro-development, understand our economic development tools, and fight for good projects to happen,” Gripp said. “That’s exactly what I’ve done over the past decade, and it’s exactly what I’ll continue to do.”
With a strong and proven track record of expanding Davenport’s tax base and bringing high-quality, family-supporting jobs to the community, Gripp is setting his sights on ambitious new goals for the city’s future. Chief among them is establishing a new industrial park in west Davenport to attract modern employers and generate lasting economic growth.
“Economic development doesn’t happen by accident,” Gripp said. “It takes collaboration, vision, and relentless advocacy. We’ve built a foundation over the past several years—and now is the time to build on that momentum.”
Gripp also plans to continue his work with the owners of NorthPark Mall to revitalize and reimagine the site as a key economic and community anchor on the city’s northwest side. Additionally, he will advocate for the creation of a new Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District (SSMID) in the western portion of downtown, helping drive targeted reinvestment and redevelopment further west.
As the city’s Community Development Chair and a Board Member of the Greater Davenport Development Corporation, Gripp has remained focused on using every available tool to drive economic progress.
Beyond economic development, Gripp’s priorities remain clear: investing in street repair and infrastructure, enhancing public safety, supporting strong neighborhoods, and continuing to improve the quality-of-life amenities that make Davenport a city that residents are proud to call home. “The people of Davenport continue to make it clear what our priorities should be: better streets, safer neighborhoods, and a strong local economy. That’s what I have spent my time on the city council advocating for and it’s what I’ll continue to focus on.”
A graduate of Davenport Central High School and St. Ambrose University, with a master’s degree in public administration from Drake University, Gripp lives in Davenport with his wife and their four children. In addition to his work on the city council, he coaches Little League baseball, is an athletic booster at Davenport Central, and serves as the liaison to the Riverfront Improvement Commission.
