SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A Sioux City woman received her prison sentence for distributing meth.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office Northern District of Iowa said Alesha Rasmussen, 34, of Sioux City, was sentenced on July 18 to 63 months, or 5 years and 3 months, in federal prison for her conviction. After the prison sentence is complete, she will be on supervised release for 6 years. There’s no parole in the federal system.
Rasmussen is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until she is able to be transported to a federal prison.
Officials said she plead guilty on February 10 to distribution of methamphetamine after being previously convicted of a felony drug offense.

Federal authorities said Rasmussen admitted that she sold about one ounce of methamphetamine to an individual cooperating with Webster County, Iowa, law enforcement in July 2014.
Officials said Rasmussen was previously convicted of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine in federal court in 2011.
