Whether it was Caitlin Clark knocking down logo threes, or Lucy Olsen drilling mid-range jump shots, in recent years, Iowa women’s basketball has been led by elite guard play.
Next season, however, Iowa’s offensive game plan could change. Head coach Jan Jensen said she’s mulling the idea of moving to a two-big lineup that utilizes both sophomore Ava Heiden and freshman Layla Hays.
“They can battle, they can get intense and cranky, but they can still a respect and really a love for the teammate that I’ve seen forge very early. I think especially for post players when you are learning as a young one on when to throw an elbow, it’s nice to have a personality like an upperclassmen that’s not taking it personally,” Jensen said.
