SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — More details about a special election set for the Iowa Senate’s First District seat have been released.
According to County Auditor Michelle Skaff, the regular polling places at local schools will be used.
There will be 13 polling locations, with 12 in Sioux City with one at the Lawton Community Center. Skaff said additional information on where exactly those polling places are located will be announced later this week.
The special election will take place on August 26, the second day of school for Sioux City parents.
Whoever is elected will fill the remainder of Rocky De Witt’s seat, with that term ending in January 2027. De Witt passed away at the end of June.
Meanwhile, the Woodbury County GOP Executive Committee announced that their nominee for the state senate race is Christopher Prosch. He owns a media consulting firm in Sioux City.
The Woodbury County Democratic Party has not yet revealed who their nominee will be at this time.
