WOODBURY COUNTY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A road at Little Sioux Park will see improvements made thanks to the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors.
The meeting on Tuesday led supervisors to unanimously say yes to a request for almost $298,000 from the County Conservation Board. Almost $86,000 of that will come from fiscal year 2026 capital improvement projects, and the remaining balance will be from lost funds.
The money will be used to replace one mile of the road at the park. The request was originally $275,000, but the County Conservation Board said the price from Henningsen Construction came in higher than anticipated.
Dan Bittinger, the Chairman of the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors, said, “The biggest issue was the extreme cost of that. The board looked at our fiscal year ‘26 capital improvement projects and realized the remaining money that we had, plus some of the money that we have. We’ve had leftover funds from our local option sales tax fund for use with those. We could go ahead and knock out half of this project that’s been sitting around for many, many years.”
Supervisors also opened up bids for a new rescue truck for county emergency services. They also approved to accept four bids for one 2026 Ford F-250 four-wheel drive 4×4 Crew Cab with a long box. The winning bid is set to be announced next week after a thorough review.
Prior to Tuesday’s meeting, the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved a $65,000 allocation for the repairs.
